Hired by Metromile to help redevelop their brand and voice. Metromile is a car insurance company unlike any other, and one that we truly believe in. They offer pay-per-mile car insurance to the modern driver. Drive less? Pay less. Makes sense, right? In fact, they are more than a car insurance company—they are a total 21st century advocate for the driver. By using the power of data collection and visualization, they truly connect every car owner to what's really going on under the hood.
A modern twist to an old industry
Created a look and feel to the company that hearkened back to the roots of the everyday driver, yet was was approachable and friendly to the modern urban consumer. Considering the fact that when anybody hears the words "car" and "insurance" in the same sentence they immediately turn off their brain, we had our work cut out for us. The result was a modern, unique, and let people know that this company was going to look at insurance a little differently.
Our friend had an idea to help his then young daughter hold her bottle better. We took his first sketches and developed a fully functional product called the Ba. We then took that product and helped him build not only a brand, but a company.
Design and development for Carbon Audio had sights on creating the most portable audio experience on the market. The result was Pocket Speaker, a dual-sided Bluetooth speaker that was small enough to fit in your pocket but loud enough to fill an entire room (a very big room). Because after all, what's more portable than things that can fit in your pocket?
Zooka started in the 3-man design shop of NEW studio in Portland, Oregon and became an international retail item in less than 18 months.
Gen 1 of the ipad had just launched, and reviews of the sound quality were less than stellar. Having had worked on several consumer electronic projects in the recent past, and in a flash of urgency, there was an immediate and gaping hole to fill surrounding the ipad.
Kickstarter was brand new, bluetooth technology was brand new, and the idea was simple, bring higher quality sound to the portable devices you carry with you every day.
The result was Zooka, a unique Bluetooth speaker that was made for your iPad.
$88,000.00, on Kickstarter, a CES booth, 1.5MM in early investment, and we had to quit the 3-man studio and start an audio company.
Zooka was on the retail shelves of Apple stores, Best Buy, Target, InMotion, and Nordstrom to name a few.
Wacom is the leading creator of digital pen tools for the new creative class. Their products can be seen in almost every studio, firm, and agency around the world. Tasked with completely redesigning the newest Intuos tablet and packaging to reflect new trends among the massive user base. Being a Wacom users, we were more than happy to help design a product we use everyday.
Working with the Wacom team, we started from the ground up to design an entirely new tablet experience. Because the tablet itself could not display what was on the screen, the tactile and visual cues it could provide became top priority. The goal was to have the user never to have to remove their eyes from their screens, or put down their pen. Thus the "heads up display" and touch interface we're born, allowing seamless transition from pen to other tools without the need for a mouse.

The cottage cheese category was in dire need of an update. Old brands, sterile packaging, and cheap ingredients took it down a few pegs in the minds of healthy consumers. And while the name may bring to mind your grandma's kitchen, the truth is that cottage cheese is as healthy as any dairy product. In fact, it typically has more protein than greek yogurt with less fat. That's why the team at good culture wanted to rethink the category and create a cottage cheese that was worth buying. A better cottage cheese. By mixing 100% organic flavors with just the right amount of grass-fed milk and natural probiotics, they're now giving cottage cheese a face-lift. Getting to launch a new brand from zero is incredibly rewarding, and this was no exception. Excited to help them create their initial name, identity, and package design that would turn heads in the dairy aisle and launch them into Whole Foods.
